Dr. Karlien van Zyl has a wide spectrum of experience as medical doctor. Prior to starting the practice in Still Bay in 2015 she was a medical officer at Uniondale Hospital. She functioned as the clinical manager of the hospital and also primary health care manager for the area's clinics. Before serving as medical officer she was 10 years an emergency medical practitioner at Highveld Mediclinic and also worked in association in a general practice in Secunda. She completed her MBChB degree at the University of Pretoria in 1998. After obtaining het degree she did her internship at Witbank hospital and completed het community service at Evander Hospital in 2000. During 2001 she worked in the United Kingdom in the Nuffield private hospitals in Derby and Chester as a resident medical officer.
Dr. Karlien is married to Johannes, the practice manager, and have two children.
Dr. Hannelie Louw completed her MBBCH degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1990 and then did
her internship in Rustenburg. Dr Louw grew up in Gauteng, where she went to primary school in Pretoria and completed her matric at Florida Hoërskool, on the West Rand.
Her drive and determination led her to completing her Diploma in Anesthetics at the Johannesburg General Hospital while working as a private practitioner. She then worked at a mine hospital in Randfontein as a GP anaesthetist before relocating to George.
During her time in George she worked at George Hospital, the District Health Services as TB Doctor, Bethesda NPO as CEO which involved managing a palliative care unit, community care workers and a children’s home. In 2009, Dr Louw decided to return to the public sector and started working at Harry Comay TB Hospital as the George Subdistrict Manager.
In 2020, after losing her husband, Dr Louw changed direction and returned to general private practice. This led to her finding new passions like elderly care, rehabilitative care and family practice.
Dr Louw has joined Dr Karlien van Zyl’s practice in Stilbaai in September 2023. It’s not only Dr Louw’s knowledge and experience within the medical community that makes her a good doctor, but her life experiences of having 3 grown children and a little granddaughter.
She feels passionate about assisting people that don’t just have general ailments but also people that suffer from allergies, chronic pain and trauma
